Program Description

The counselling service program provides counselling for Anishnawbe individuals, couples and families coping with stressful personal issues. This program works with clients in a safe and confidential office and on reserve. The program assists clients in identifying the issues they would like to address and in developing an individual counselling plan to address the identified issues. The program schedules appointments that best meet the client's need and availability of the counsellor. This program maintains client information in the strictest confidence. It also provides community workshops and training and information sessions in conjunction with community support services and community workers. Residential school survival counselling is also available through this service. Model of service is one that is culturally appropriate.

Access Information

Requests for service are accepted over the phone or by individuals presenting at the organization's office. Referrals are accepted from sister organizations or other mental health professionals. A medical or referral is not required; however, referrals from a physician are welcome.
