Counselling and Treatment

Type of Service

Counselling and Treatment

Program Description

Professional staff provides counselling and treatment to those suffering from a wide range of serious and persistent mental health problems such as depression, psychosis, post-traumatic stress, anxiety or panic. There is a section on our referral form to complete for psychiatric consultation. In most instances referrals for psychiatric consultation are seen by our clinical staff for assessment prior to being scheduled for consultation. We are able to provide psychiatric consultation via televideo linkage with psychiatrists at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. We also offer on-site psychiatric consultation although this is a more limited resource. Model of service is psychiatric consultation for assessment, with treatment by linkage back to the family physician, emergency department or community resources for service.

Access Information

Referrals by physicians, hospitals and community agencies are the usual, however, self-referrals are accepted. All referrals are reviewed and priority is given to the most serious and critical referrals. Referral forms are available from the centre.
