Program Description

An early psychosis intervention program provided by specialized clinical staff that provides outreach and clinical intervention with access to specialized psychiatrist consultation. Outreach: public education, awareness raising, assertive outreach, initial screening. First response: crisis intervention, psychiatric assessment, inpatient stabilization. Treatment services: psychiatric consultation and follow-up, case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, family education and support, youth education and support groups. Support services: supportive housing, recreational, vocational, treatment of co-morbid issues and addictions interventions. Model of service is early intervention with quick access to outreach, assessment, treatment, support and education for people experiencing early psychosis or early symptoms of risk and family support, education, networking.

Access Information

This is an early response program. Referrals by physicians, hospitals and community agencies are preferred; however, self-referrals are also accepted. The centre prioritizes referrals so that we are able to meet the most urgent needs of our clients. Should individuals experience a crisis and require urgent support outside of the regular office hours, they should go to the nearest hospital Emergency Department. The Four County Crisis Line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week (705-745-6484 or 866-995-9933). Referral forms are available from the centre.
