Program Description

The Court Diversion Services program is designed to provide support and advocacy to individuals involved in the court system, who are living with a mental illness or concurrent disorder. This program also serves to divert offenders away from the judicial system who are living with a mental illness or concurrent disorder who have committed a minor offence. GAIN assessment tools are used for referral and screening process.

Access Information

Referrals to the program may be made by the police, the Crown Attorney, or the defence counsel. The court diversion candidate must: have a serious mental illness, have been charged with committing a low risk offence, be approved for diversion by the Provincial Crown Attorney, and be willing to participate in mental health case management.
