Social Rehabilitation/Recreation

Program Description

This service provides a variety of Therapeutic Recreation activities for consumers with serious mental illness. This promotes participation in comprehensive psychosocial programming and creates ownership and empowerment through providing opportunities for members to be involved in planning and operating of the programs. Programs offered promote healthy living, therapeutic recreation, relapse prevention and coping skills education (i.e. exercise and nutrition), community integration, and healthy relationships. Opportunities are provided for skill development in all areas of living (self, vocation, family, community) which equates to improved functioning and daily living. Activities are designed to develop healthy interpersonal relationships. Our goal is to provide a range of services directed at promoting psychosocial rehabilitation and successful reintegration into the community. Incorporated are many aspects of the recovery process; socialization, vocational training, education, individual support and group programs. The activity programs offer a chance to practice social skills, make friends in a non-threatening environment and feel accepted.
