Program Description

Northern Star consumer survivor initiative is recognized as a valuable and effective self-help and peer support program. The program offers two drop-in centers throughout the district, self-help groups dealing with issues like emotions, coping skills, assertiveness training and life skills. Social recreational activities such as crafts, community kitchen, birthday celebrations, and member meetings. Trained volunteer hosts operate a drop-in center and provide peer support. Model of service is recovery and peer support.

Access Information

Entry to the program is done via brief interview whereby an oath of confidentiality is signed and an organization referral is completed. Clients can be a member of the Northern Star program only and do not have to be accessing any other mental health services.
