Program Description

The Mental Health Program is a community-based program that provides counselling services to individuals living with a mental illness. We work primarily with the individual, but also provide couple and family counselling, as well as group services. Individual counselling services are generally one hour in length and are scheduled once every two weeks, or once a week depending on the client's situation. We work with the client to move forward in their own recovery process. Our program goals are to provide a practical and therapeutic process for stabilizing and/or recovery from a mental illness. Model of service is client-centered with a recovery approach and philosophy. Average program length is twenty counselling sessions but can vary depending on client need.

Access Information

The counselling services can be accessed through contact with the counselling program intake worker. Medical referral is not required. We would like the clients to call to request the services. Our clients are referred to us by a variety of sources (psychiatrists, hospitals, family doctors, family members, community services, etc.).
