Program Description

Individual counselling, therapy groups and psycho-educational groups for women who have been sexually assaulted. Professionally qualified social workers help women who are survivors of sexual assault to find solutions to a devastating and traumatic experience. Model of service is solution-focused therapy. Average length of stay is six to twelve months.

Access Information

A woman of the region of Waterloo who is a survivor of sexual assault can call Carizon Family and Community Services directly and request help. In the initial telephone conversation, the woman will speak directly to an Intake Worker, who is a professional counsellor. Based on the presenting problems, the Intake Worker will assign the woman to the most appropriate counsellor. The Intake Worker will give the woman the time of her first appointment-depending on the client's circumstances and the availability of counsellors-generally the first appointment is within two weeks.
