Program Description

Community Wellness Services is part of CMHA Durham's Hub of integrated community services providing unique supports to marginalized, high acuity individuals with complex needs. We provide self-directed knowledge building and skills development focused learning opportunities within programs and in the community. Also, we utilize a transferable lived experience Peer Support perspective. Community Wellness Services provides both Life Skills and Older Adults Wellness Programs in Oshawa and Bowmanville, as well as the YASP: Youth Activity and Support Program and the SBI: Small Business Initiatives Employment Program in Oshawa. Short term Youth Case Management, (ages 14-24), is provided to youth starting with the Youth Public Trustee, youth participating within YASP, the Life Skills Programs, and as referred.

Access Information

Clients require a mental health diagnosis. Clients are referred to a Community Access and directed to the program if they indicate an openness to build relationships, work, or participate in structured, scheduled activities. Candidates for service must be willing to participate in a goal plan, expect to show progress and be open to group activities. Clients must have demonstrated some stability and conform to the recommendations of the medical psychiatric specialist involved with their recovery.
