Program Description

The Health Promotion and Education program promotes the mental health of all individuals and communities in Ontario through knowledge enhancement, policy development, advocacy and the advancement of best practices in service delivery. Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Ontario disseminates high quality information on the mental health system, mental illness and mental health research to key audiences, including policy and decision makers, mental health professionals, consumers, family members, media, and the general public. CMHA Ontario facilitates capacity building within the community mental health sector, promotes evidence-based practice through research transfer and exchange, provides education and training to professionals working in the health and human services sector, and provides leadership in the development of policies that enhance and maintain the mental health of individuals and communities in Ontario and support individuals with mental illness and their families.

Access Information

Information is made available through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Ontario website and various publications, including an email newsletter (Mental Health Notes), a magazine (Network), and printed brochures, through contact with the provincial office by mail, phone and email. CMHA Ontario works directly with government mental health organizations and associations, and other key stakeholders to develop policy and build capacity in the field.
