Program Description

Through community integration, life skills training and recreation opportunities, clients are helped to develop skills and strategies to minimize the impact of their illness and to function as fully and independently as possible within the community. This program operates community integration (social recreation) and life skills programs at CMHA Middlesex in Exeter, where rehabilitation and community integration are encouraged. Staff with training in the use of leisure skills in therapeutic setting helps participants develop their strengths and potential through: arts and crafts; wellness and fitness; nature walks; community outings; gardening; and music appreciation. Also offered (in conjunction with other community partners, where possible) are mini-workshops, short courses in life skills and healthy relationships. This wide range of activities and programs provides: opportunities for socialization and recreation, a structured environment, chance to learn new skills, chance to integrate with the community. Model of service is psychosocial rehabilitation.
