Program Description

The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) eating disorders program provides expertise in the area of assessment and treatment of children and youth who present with eating disorders. Services offered include an intensive day treatment program, an outpatient assessment and treatment program, and an inpatient treatment program. The day treatment program offers eight treatment spots for youth between the ages of 12 and 17 with moderate to severe eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). The program includes a complete interdisciplinary assessment: psychological, medical, and nutritional. Nursing and child and youth counsellors provided. Medical stabilization and nutritional rehabilitation, parents' support education, family therapy, group therapy and therapeutic milieu, individual therapy, group meal support and family meal support provided. Model of service is a group-based approach.

Access Information

Referral from a physician is required. Referrals are processed through the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Mental Health Centralized Intake.
