Program Description

The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) eating disorders program provides expertise in the area of assessment and treatment of children and youth who present with eating disorders. Services offered include an intensive day treatment program, an outpatient assessment and treatment program, and an inpatient treatment program. The inpatient program includes six inpatient eating disorder beds. The program includes a complete interdisciplinary assessment: psychological, medical, and nutritional. Nursing and child and youth counsellors provided. Medical stabilization and nutritional rehabilitation, parents' support education, family therapy, group therapy and therapeutic milieu, individual therapy, group meal support and family meal support provided. Parents are invited to attend a ten-week support education group.

Access Information

Referral from a physician is required. Children and youth may be admitted directly from an outpatient clinic if presenting with significant medical instability.
